About Me
Welcome! I’m a freelance writer with a focus on the intersection of food and culture. I’m fascinated by how food permeates every aspect of our lives. Food is the foundation of civilization. Food encourages respect and support for environmental and human diversity and health. Food fosters and strengthens family and community ties and traditions. Food brings joy and connection and binds us together as a people.
Have you ever sat down to a meal and felt the food and atmosphere connecting you to the others seated around the table? Or felt happy wandering through your local farmers market, enamored and intrigued by the beauty and freshness of the produce and possibility? Or felt grounded to your family and traditions when you enjoyed a holiday meal with family favorites? Or perhaps you simply wondered about the origins of a particular dish or the development and customs of a particular cuisine. All of the above are true for me.
My Background
I have a BS in Mass Communications/Public Relations from Boston University, put aside my public relations career to raise my sons and am now happily pursuing my interests exploring the intersection of food and culture in a professional capacity. I’m based in New York’s Hudson Valley, which is rich in agricultural history, products, and culinary delights, and am a member of the Culinary Historians of New York. When I’m not writing or thinking about food or planning my next meal, you’ll find me traveling or on a tennis court.
